Senior Engineering Manager @ FloQast

Michael Dubose

Engineering leader and hands-on architect — I build the platform and the team that ships it.

Senior engineering leader with nearly two decades of professional experience spanning fintech, e-commerce, and high-traffic consumer platforms. I pair deep, current hands-on engineering with the leadership track record to scale teams, re-platform products end to end, and align technical strategy with the business.

About

Two decades of building — and leading the people who build.

My first programming lesson happened in a hospital server room. I was three years old, it was 1991, and my grandmother sat me down at a mainframe at Deaconess Hospital in St. Louis to teach me COBOL. I’ve been writing code ever since — which means I’ve spent nearly two decades doing it professionally and the better part of my life doing it for love.

That head start shaped how I work. I went on to study political science with a computer-science minor, deliberately pairing how systems of people work with how systems of software work. It turns out that combination is exactly what engineering leadership demands: the technical depth to design the right architecture, and the human judgment to build a team that can actually deliver it.

I’ve been the senior engineer leading a GraphQL orchestration layer at TripAdvisor and the executive owning an end-to-end re-platform at CrowdStreet. Today I’m a Senior Engineering Manager at FloQast leading roughly 20 engineers. I never stopped being hands-on — I just learned to multiply my impact through the people around me.

  • ~20 Engineers led at FloQast today
  • 13+ Years leading teams & architecture
  • 1991 Writing code since age 3
  • End-to-end Platforms re-built from the ground up

Impact

How I create leverage

The throughline across fintech, e-commerce, AdTech, and high-traffic consumer products: I take ownership of the hardest technical bets and the teams responsible for landing them.

01

Re-platform without breaking trust

At CrowdStreet I led a ground-up rebuild — new APIs, frontends, databases, and pipelines — and migrated every existing user and investing account onto it. New foundations, zero loss of continuity, new lines of business unlocked.

02

Scale teams, not just systems

From 15 developers across two countries at mGage to five teams at TVG to ~20 engineers at FloQast — I set technical direction, tighten delivery, and grow managers and senior ICs who raise the bar around them.

03

Stay hands-on at the architecture level

GraphQL orchestration at TripAdvisor, domain-driven design at mGage, Kubernetes delivery via Azure DevOps at Vana. I lead from a place of current, working technical depth — not a whiteboard memory of how to build.

04

Tie engineering to the business

Whether it’s commerce conversion at Arrive Outdoors, campaign delivery at mGage, or investor experience at CrowdStreet, I align roadmaps with outcomes the business actually cares about — and keep quality from being the thing that slips.
